Peter J. King Pediatric Emergency Department at Children’s Hospital

Saint Paul, Minnesota

Dedicated November 2012. Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota is one of the largest pediatric health systems in the country and the only health system in Minnesota to provide care exclusively to children. An independent and not-for-profit system since 1924, Children’s serves kids throughout the Upper Midwest at two free-standing hospital and multiple clinic locations. Children's service excellence is made possible largely by generous philanthropic support from organizations like the Peter J. King Family Foundation whose $2M investment created the Peter J. King Pediatric Emergency Department at Children’s – St. Paul. This gift transformed Children's emergency care by lowering patient wait times, improving infection control and streamlining service delivery for the more than 40,000 children treated there each year. And, it served as a catalyst for the refresh and redesign of much of the Children’s – St. Paul hospital campus. The Peter J. King Family Foundation’s generosity also sponsored a private patient room for neuroscience patients being treated for epilepsy, brain injuries, concussions and other neurologic challenges, helping to make Children’s – St. Paul the premier place for pediatric neuroscience care in the Upper Midwest.

The Salvation Army; Peter J. King Family Foundation Worship and Community Center

Minneapolis, Minnesota

The Peter J King Family Foundation has been a catalyst in the development of numerous Salvation Army projects for more than two decades, including the Peter J. King Family Foundation Child Development Center in St. Paul, and the Peter J King Family Foundation Community Center in Northeast Minneapolis; two facilities which, thanks to the foundation, make a positive impact to the education and welfare of families living in poverty.  The foundation, along with members of the King family, have also been front-runners in innovative philanthropy, leveraging their support through unique matching opportunities in addition to their capital investments.  As a result, single parents previously unemployed because they couldn't afford childcare are now working, families living in isolation now find support and purpose, and children are nurtured and educated in safe, loving environments.
